Not even the rainy weather could prevent the journey of the Flame towards the Winter Olympic Games “PYEONGCHANG 2018”, on the 5th day of the Torch Relay in Central Macedonia. The Torch Relay was concluded late on Saturday night in Naoussa, with the cauldron being lit by the skiing champion Sofia Ralli, who took the sacred Light of Olympism by the skiing champion Maria Ntanou.

Before Naoussa, the Flame had been warmly welcomed at the Ancient Theatre of Mieza, where Aristotle had established his school, something the Mayor of Naoussa Nikos Koutsogiannis stressed out, underlying the inextricable link of the city with the values of the Ancient Greeks.

The most impressive picture of the day came from Rodopolis, where children, wearing t-shirts of the PyeongChang Olympic Games, waited for the Light of Olympism at the entrance of the city and ran along. The 5th day of the Torch Relay began from the statue of Alexander the Great in Thessalonica, continued to Kilkis and crossed Sidirokastro and Serres. On Sunday, the journey of the Flame will begin from Naousa and after stops in Veria, Katerini, Litochoro and Larissa will reach Delfi.
