More than a million visitors have visited the Panathenaic Stadium - 1.031.723 visitors in total, 233.689 of which being pupils - since April 15, 2010, when the Stadium opened again its doors to the public, under the responsibility of the Hellenic Olympic Committee.
Numbers prove that the historic stadium, in which the first Modern Olympic Games were held in 1896, is one of the most popular touristic destinations in Athens. It offers the visitor the opportunity to learn the history of the Stadium and understand the contribution of Greece to the Olympic Games.
The visitors have the opportunity to wander in the Stadium and use the individual audio guide, available in 10 languages, while everyone interested can also visit the permanent exhibition with posters and Olympic torches of Modern Olympic Games. Outside the Panathenaic Stadium there is also a shop with commemorative gifts, to help keep the memory of the special experience of this visit.
